I' running your latest release on Anycubic i3 Mega S.
I don't know if that's intentional, but I don't think so, so I'm asking here:

Adjusting the value for the Z offset via the menu item on the display as well as via the terminal in the Octoprint has no consequences, although the new value is saved with M500.
The change only takes effect once the Auto Bed Leveling process G29 has been done and saved.
Is this intentional?
If not, is there a way to fix this?

Which printer are you talking about? Live Z offset only works on the Chiron. Baby stepping can only be used via USB during printing. The Z offset in the display always shows the distance between the sensor an the nozzle and not the distance between the nozzle and the print bed ;) This means that the auto-leveling always has to be carried out again.
